  • Arthur Mee's Children 's Encyclopedia was published first in fortnightly instalments between 1908 and 1910 before appearing asan eight-volume bound edition. Tracy's work is a homage to 'the magnitude of this literary achievement', which, he estimates, could have been found in perhaps one in thirteen upper and middle-class households by the 1920s .
