    Unamuno tradujo la Medea de Séneca a petición del Gobierno español; traducción terminada a primeros de mayo de 1933. La hizo para la inauguración del Teatro romano de Mérida y la pusieron en escena, el 18 de junio de aquél año, Enrique Borrás y Margarita Xirgu. Unamuno compuso luego en verso los Coros para que Oscar Esplá les pusiera música. Pero no llegó a tiempo para representarse. Aunque la traducción de Unamuno no se publicaría hasta 1954, los versos han permanecido inéditos hasta hoy

    Unamuno translated Seneca's Medea at the request of the Spanish government; the traslation was completad at the beginning of May 1933. It was done for the opening of the Roman Theatre in Merida, and it was staged or 18 June of that year by Enrique Borrás and Margarita Xirgu. Unamuno then wrote the Chorus parís in verse for Oscar Esplá to put them to music. But this did not arrive in time for the staging. Unamuno's translation was eventually published in 1954, but the verses for the Chorus have remained unpublished until today.
