    La religiosidad en España y por lo tanto también en el País Vasco y en la villa de Bilbao, tomaría un nuevo rumbo al final de la guerra civil. La iglesia seguía en los años 30 confundiendo un catolicismo sociológico con la realidad de una España auténticamente cristiana. En pleno siglo XX, y después de acabada la Guerra Civil, el panorama religioso cambia considerablemente. Este cambio vendría marcado por la unión Iglesia-Estado y la integración de los poderes políticos en la vida de la Iglesia y al revés, la integración de los poderes de la Iglesia en la política del Movimiento.

    Religiousness in Spain, and therefore in the Basque Country and the township of Bilbao, was to take a new course at the end of the civil war.
