    The text summarizes some basic issues in the relationship between architecture and archeology. Specifically, it investigates methods and problems related to the activation of reuse activitiesrelated both to the landscape or to individual buildings. Through a series of examples taken from history, such as the Apollo temple at Delphi, the Baal temple in Palmyra, the Jesuit missions in Paraguay, or some reconstruction work carried out by modern architects, like Fernand Pouillon and Hans Döllgast, the text focuses on the relationship between ruins and territory and, more specifically on the need to use new projects to rebuild not only stones destroyed by time but also some of those relationships with the culture of a people or a single place that are an integral part of each building of the past. In conclusion, the paper investigates what can be considered as teaching us new lessons coming from the ruins: that a particular dialogue, not foreseen by the original projects, between the ruins and the landscape. In fact, the fragments of buildings when compared with fragments of landscape suggest new ways of inserting individual buildings or other architectural complexes in territories whose wealth often needs to become evident once again, In fact, a place is not always able to maintain over time the evidence of its beauty and new architecture or the reuse of building, may be the tools to recreate this particular quality.

    Il testo riassume alcune questioni di fondo nel rapporto tra architettura e archeologia. In particolare, indaga modalità e problemi legati all’attivazione di azioni di riuso riferite al paesaggio o a singoli edifici. Attraverso esempi tratti dalla storia, come il tempio di Apollo a Delfi, quello di Baal a Palmyra, le missioni gesuitiche in Paraguay, oppure opere di ricostruzione eseguite da architetti moderni, come il castello di Belcastel di Fernand Pouillon o la pinacoteca di Monaco di Hans Döllgast si riflette sul nesso tra rovina e territorio. Più in particolare sulla necessità, attraverso nuovi progetti, di ricostruire non solo le pietre distrutte dal tempo ma anche alcune delle relazioni con la cultura di un popolo o con un singolo luogo che costituiscono parte integrante di ogni edificio del passato. Il testo, inoltre, indaga su quello che può essere considerato come un nuovo insegnamento che ci proviene dalle rovine e consiste nel dialogo (non previsto dai progetti originari), tra di esse e il paesaggio. Frammenti di edifici che si confrontano con frammenti di paesaggi suggeriscono, infatti, nuove modalità di inserimento di singoli edifici o complessi architettonici dentro territori la cui ricchezza spesso necessita, per tornare ad essere evidente, di avvalersi di quella valorizzazione che può provenire solo da un buon progetto architettonico. Sia che si tratti di un nuovo edificio che di un’opera del passato rimessa in vita.
