Resumen de ¿Y quién trabajará la tierra?: Migración de ejidatarios de Valle de Santiago a Estados Unidos

  En el presente artículo se analiza la relación entre los procesos migratorios internacionales de cuatro ejidos del municipio de Valle de Santiago, Guanajuato y sus efectos en el mercado y la valoración de la tierra. El estudio se realizó en una región de tradición migratoria de alta productividad agrícola, donde se ha presentado la continuidad del fenómeno migratorio en tres o hasta cuatro generaciones de ejidatarios, quienes constituyeron los sujetos de estudio. La metodología se basó en el enfoque cualitativo y cuantitativo, en los que se aplicaron encuestas y entrevistas a profundidad. Se concluye que entre las nuevas generaciones de ejidatarios la migración favoreció más la renta que la venta de tierras ejidales al tiempo que reconfiguró y contrapuso la apreciación y la valoración de la tierra; para los jóvenes la tierra va perdiendo valor económico, histórico y cultural.

  In this article, the link between international migration processes in four ejidos in the municipality of Valle de Santiago, Guanajuato and their effects on the market and land valuation are analyzed. The study was conducted in a region with an immigration tradition and high agricultural productivity, where the migratory phenomenon has continued throughout three or four generations of ejido residents, who were the subject of the study. The methodology was based on the qualitative and quantitative approach, in which surveys and in-depth interviews were applied. It is concluded that among the new generations of ejido residents, migration has encouraged the rent rather than the sale of ejido lands at the same time as it has reshaped and contrasted the appreciation and appraisal of land. For young people, land is losing its economic, historical and cultural value.
