Prácticas y significados del uso del condón en varones adolescentes de dos contextos de México

    El objetivo de este artículo fue conocer las prácticas y profundizar en los significados que varones adolescentes en dos contextos de México, dan al uso del condón en sus relaciones sexuales. Los datos provienen de una investigación cualitativa que toma como base la línea teórica del Construccionismo Social. La investigación se realizó en el área metropolitana de Monterrey y en un municipio del estado de Guerrero. La población de estudio fueron varones menores de 19 años que en el momento de la entrevista ya se habían iniciado sexualmente. Para la recolección de información se realizaron dos entrevistas grupales y 28 entrevistas a profundidad. El análisis de la información fue inductivo a partir de la teoría fundamentada, utilizando el software Nvivo 10. Los resultados permiten comprender que a partir del contexto a que se refiera, las prácticas y los significados en el uso del condón van a variar, mucho de ello dependerá de la imagen y percepción del riesgo que el varón se construye de la mujer, lo que marca el tipo de encuentro y el uso del condón en sus relaciones sexuales. Se puede concluir que el modelo hegemónico de masculinidad y las relaciones desiguales de género, permiten que los adolescentes de los contextos estudiados construyan socialmente connotaciones y significados del uso de condón, las cuales, tienen consecuencias en su vida actual y futura.

    The aim of this paper was to know the practices and to deepen into the meanings that teen males, in two context of Mexico, give to the condom use in their sexual relations. The information comes from a qualitative research that takes as a base the theoretical line of the Social Constructionism. The research was made in the Metropolitan Area of Monterrey and in a Guerrero’s Municipality. The study populations were males under the age of 19, In the moment of the interview they had already begun their sexual life. For the compilation of information two group interviews and 28 in-depth interviews were made. The analysis of the information was inductive from the Grounded Theory using the software Nvivo10. The results allow understanding that from the context, to which it refers, the practices and meanings in the condom use will vary. Much of it will depend especially the risk’s image and perception the male makes of the women, this marks the type of meeting and the condom use in his sexual relations. It can be concluded that the hegemonic model of masculinity and the unequal relations of genre allow the teenagers of the studied contexts to socially construct connotations and meanings of the condom use which have consequences in their current and future life.
