Bien podría titularse: La ciudad y el patrimonio de Benjamin y Simmel a la postmodernidad. O de cómo conciliar la belleza bizarra, originaria de la modernidad (Benjamin), o la vida nerviosa característica de la metrópolis (Simmel) con la solidez de la idea de patrimonio. Ello, nos llevará a vérnoslas con la modernidad como vanguardia, pero también con una posterior estetización de la ciudad y de las prácticas patrimoniales, síntomas del cambio de paradigma.
Evaporada la plenitud, tendremos que considerar los problemas que implica: la ciudad desterritorializada, la nueva ciudad como aldea global,� y los retos patrimoniales implicados desde varias perspectivas estéticas: Bachelard, Lipovetsky, Jameson,� En definitiva reconsiderar las páginas de este libro de la ciudad en el patrimonio y valorar en qué medida se puede decir también de este último �terminando también con Benjamin-- que �cambia más rápido que el corazón de un mortal�.
