The Cobbler’s Beat (D. 19.2.13.4 and D. 9.2.5.3) From a Forensic and Philological View: A Contribution to the History of the Contrecoup-Fracture. In the Digests, the case of a cobbler is mentioned; as a punishment he hits a clumsy apprentice so hard on the neck with a last that the boy is blinded on one eye. In the following the case is examined from a philological and medical point of view, in which a new explanation of the seemingly quaint mechanism of injury will be suggested.
