  • Resumen
    • Analysis of the film Black Venus by Abdellatif Kechiche (2010), which tells the story of Saartjie Baartman, a South African woman who was exhibited in London and Paris in the early nineteenth century. That woman, called the Hottentot Venus, was also a victim of the interest of scientists of the time, they interpreted their physical forms as proof of racial hierarchy. We have highlighted why it was a symbol of colonial exploitation and Kechichess criticism over looking viewers then and now.
