La referencia al mar está presente en el quehacer de artistas nacionales y extranjeros que han proyectado la imagen de Cuba en sus obras, reafirmando así la naturaleza insular de esta nación caribeña. Por esta razón no debe sorprender que “el mar” figure en la galería de personajes que conforman las historias protagonizadas por el coronel mambí Elpidio Valdés, personaje de historietas concebido por el reconocido historietista, dibujante y director de animados infantiles Juan Padrón.

The reference to the sea is present in the creations of national and international artists who have projected the image of Cuba in their masterpieces. This way, they have reaffirmed the insular nature of this Caribbean nation. For this reason, it is not a surprise that the sea image appears in the characters´ gallery of stories developed by Colonel Elpidio Valdés, designed by the renowned cartoonist, illustrator and children animated cartoon director Juan Padrón.
