Resumen de La contribució (escassa i poc reconeguda) de la ciència política a l'estudi de la relació entre llengua i societat

  Aquest article revisa la contribució dels politòlegs locals a l'estudi de la relació entre llengua i societat a l'àrea lingüística del català en els darrers quinze anys. Tres són les conclusions principals a què arriba. Primera, la contribució dels politòlegs locals ésmés aviat escassa, no té una perspectiva comparativa i no està sempre ben connectada amb els debats teòrics de la ciència política d'àmbit mundial. Segona, aquesta contribució no ha tingut gaire influència en el desenvolupament de la sociolingüística catalana, que ha estat tradicionalment controlada (i encara ho està) per estudiosos titulats en filologia catalana quemostren actituds indubtablement militants. Tercera, mentre que la majoria d'aquests sociolingüistes catalans han intentat «sociologitzar» els seus esforços científics, és clar que fins ara no han dedicat l'atenció deguda a les eines desenvolupades per la ciència política.

  The limited and largely unacknowledged contribution of political science to the study of the relationship between language and society. The article reviews the contribution of local political scientists to the study of the languagesociety relationship in the Catalan linguistic sphere over the past 15 years. Three main conclusions are reached. Firstly, the contribution of local political scientists is rather slender; it does not have a comparative slant and is not always sufficiently connected to theoretical debates in political science worldwide. Secondly, this contribution has not had much impact on the development of Catalan sociolinguistics, which has traditionally been (and remains) controlled by scholars with a Catalan Language degree who show undeniable partisan attitudes.

  Thirdly,whereasmost of these Catalan sociolinguists have tried to “sociologise” their scientific endeavours, it is clear that so far they have not paid sufficient attention to the tools developed by political science.
