Resumen de Avances en el conocimiento histórico de Melilla y su entorno durante la antigüedad y el medievo: Nuevas investigaciones

En el siguiente artículo se presenta un conjunto de actuaciones realizadas por el área de arqueología del Instituto de Cultura Mediterránea en los recintos fortificados de Melilla así como el hallazgo de restos de época romana localizados en la isla de Isabel II (Islas Chafarinas).
La cronología de los materiales arqueológicos se centran en el periodo de mayor esplendor de Melilla en la antigüedad, época en que la antigua Rusaddir conformaba una de las ciudades más importantes del reino de Mauritania (siglo II a.C.-I d.C.), tres siglos inmersa en un intenso proceso asimilador de los modos de vida romanos por parte de una población de larga tradición feniciopúnica a la que se le irá sumando un importante componente bereber, dándose un vivo proceso de hibridación cultural y económica. Algunas de estas intervenciones además han ofrecido nuevos restos del periodo islámico principalmente del dominio Mariní (siglo XIII-XIV d.C.).

In the following article a set of activities realised by the archaeology area appears the Institute of Mediterranean Culture in the fortified enclosures of Melilla, as well as the finding of located rest of Roman time in the island of Isabel II (Chafarinas islands). The chronology of the archaeological materials concentrates in the period of greater splendor of Melilla in the antiquity, time at which the old one rusaddir conformed one of the most important cities of the kingdom of Mauritania (century II a.C-I d.C), three centuries immersed in an intense process in order to assimilate the Roman ways of life on the part of a population of long feniciopúnica tradition to which to him it will be added an important component to bereber, occurring an alive process of cultural and economic mixture. Some of these interventions in addition have offered new rest of the Islamic period mainly of the Mariní dominion (century XIII-XIV d.C).
