  Los museos de la música se han constituido a lo largo del siglo XX como uno de los espacios más interesantes para el estudio de la organología y la historia de la música. El arte musical siempre ha despertado el interés del ser humano y el deseo de coleccionar instrumentos musicales ha sido una constante a lo largo de la historia. Desde la edad media, tanto la iglesia como la aristocracia y la oligarquía almacenaron importantes colecciones de instrumentos musicales. Muchas de ellas han sobrevivido al tiempo y han pasado a ser propiedad de importantes museos públicos tanto en Europa como en el mundo. Este artículo pretende dar una visión general del origen y evolución de estos espacios que representan en gran medida la historia y evolución de una de las creaciones más importantes del hombre: la música.

  The museums of music have become throughout the twentieth century as one of the most interesting places to study organology and history of music. Musical art has always aroused the interest of the people and the desire to collect musical instruments has been a constant throughout history. Since the Middle Ages, both the Church and the aristocracy and oligarchy stored important collections of musical instruments. Many of them have survived time and have become important property of public museums in Europe and over the world. This article aims to give an overview of the origin and evolution of these spaces representing largely the history and evolution of one of the most important creations of man: music.
