  • Resumen
    • The objective of the current study is to review the scientific literature identifying and summarizing studies that have been conducted on the implementation of Therapeutic Interchange Programs (TIP) at hospitals, and current position of the TIP (guidelines, professionals viewpoint) in Spain and in abroad. Results: 29% of the gathered studies corresponded to Spanish hospitals. 71% of the Spanish hospitals and 88% of the American teaching hospitals elaborate TIP. None of the Spanish studies included in this review, measured the obtained cost savings from TIP implementation, while it was one of the main targets in 31% of the American studies. We need more studies wherein the pharmacist intervenes interactively in the therapeutic substitutions including detailed orders in the electronic medical records and integrating the TIP to the assisted electronic prescription programs
