Resumen de El hospital de la Encarnación de Zamora en el siglo XVIII: reglamentación y evolución asistencial

Durante la Edad Moderna se simplificó considerablemente la red asistencias en la ciudad de Zamora. La Hospitalidad pasó a estar monopolizada por tres centros fundados en ese periodo, en los que se ofrecían antención médico-sanitaria. Uno de ellos fue el de La Encarnación, dotado por D. Pedro Morán a comienzos del siglo XVII, Según las disposiciones del fundador, una de los cometidos de esta Obra Pía era la curación de pobres vergonzantes, para lo cual, y a fin de garantizar la intimidad de los mismos, dejó establecida la disposición de las habitaciones. Pero, con el tiempo, este establecimiento acabaría por hacer las veces de hospital militar. En este trabajo hemos estudiado el alcance de estas actividades en el centro, la reglamentación del mismo y la evolución cuantitativa de las asistencias, para el periodo en que se conservan registros de ingresos o defunciones (1678-1788).

The health care network in the city of Zamora was considerably simplified in the Early Modern Period. Health care became the monopoly of three centres, which were founded in this period and which offered health and medical care. One of these was the �La Encarnación� hospital, founded by Pedro Morán in the early seventeenth century. Under the provisions stipulated by the founder, one of the tasks of this charitable institution was to heal those too ashamed to publically admit their poverty, to which end, and in order to ensure their privacy, he established the provision of rooms. Later however, this was to become a military hospital. In this study, we analysed the scope of these activities in the hospital, its regulations and the quantitative evolution of care provision, during the period for which records of admissions or deaths have been preserved (1678-1788).
