  • * The labeling of the antibiotic azithromycin now states that the drug can prolong the QT interval, which can lead to potentially fatal cardiac arrhythmias.

    * Certain patients are at greater risk for QT interval prolongation, including older adults, those with a history of QT prolongation, those taking other drugs that promote a prolonged QT interval, and those with a history of cardiac disease.
