  • This article describes the main features of the media system in Valencia, and it discusses and interprets the process by which this system has come into being. Particular emphasis is placed on the dominant role played by the political system, which has led to a wide range of bad informative practices, a strong dependence on the leading Spanish media corporations, notable cultural shortcomings and a considerable decline in the use of Catalan in the media, all of which are obstacles to the development of a democratic, reliable communicative system at the service of the people.
