Resumen de Fondaparinux sódico. Un nuevo fármaco antitrombótico

N. Quer Margall, Blanca Martínez Sánchez

  • Thromboembolic disease is one of the most frequent complications that present patients who underwent orthopedic surgery. In order to reduce its morbility and mortality, heparins of low molecular weight are administered. Recently, there are being developed selective drugs that inhibit the Xa factor. Fondaparinux is a new antithrombotic drug of a synthetic origin, an indirect inhibitor of the activated X factor, that is indicated for the prevention of venous thromboembolic events in patients who underwent major orthopedic surgery in the inferior limbs, like hip fracture surgery, major knee surgery or hip prosthesis
