The saltworks of Cerrillos are located in the sea coast. The origin of these waters is essentially marine, but the influence of the groundwater discharge could be significant. The chemical diversity of the water increases by the location of small lakes of human origin developed by mining extraction of gravel in the zone between the salt ponds and the sea coast. Theses lakes show low salinity sometimes less than salt ponds. Their origin and special hydrochemistry could be related to the direct rain recharge over these endorreic basins and the deep groundwater recharge through the faults affecting the aquifer
