Resumen de Pleistocene engravings from Wonderwerk Cave, South Africa

Robert G. Bednarik, Peter B. Beaumont

  • Confirmed Pleistocene palaeoart from Africa remains rare, but there are a small number of engraved and painted portable objects from various sites in southern Africa. Some of these are stratigraphically attributable to the Middle Stone Age, while Wonderwerk Cave has also produced plaques relating to the prior Fauresmith technocomplex. We here present observations and interpretations of the hominin modification traces on two finds from that site and also consider their find contexts.
