    Nas lendas aqui analisadas, dois irmãos são os representantes morais de «sua cultura». Eles «corporificam» idéias e definições morais no mundo social. Neste artigo, analisaremos como os Irmãos Piriás se tornam alvo da atenção dos membros de uma comunidade narrativa específica.

    Por meio dos personagens de suas lendas, a comunidade legitima um modo específico de existência, promovendo o debate público em relação à importância de seu papel e de sua função social.

    In these legends two brothers are identified as moral representatives of »their culture».

    As characters of legends they give existence to ideas and moral definitions in the social world. In this article, we analyze how the Piriás Brothers became the focus of attention of a specific community narrative. Through the characters of their tales, the members of this community gives legitimity to a specific mode of existence. This is done in the course of the narrative moment, when it occurs a public debate on the importance of the social function and role of characters and narrators is promoted.
