    Los pasajes de la obra de Epicteto relativos a la problemática de quéactitud deberíamos adoptar ante lo exterior se reparten en dos grupos: elprimero recomienda el desinterés como única actitud legítima; el segundogrupo nos exhorta a no desatender los vínculos que nos unen con los quenos rodean. Estos dos tipos de pasajes aparecen por lo general comoconclusiones de dos argumentos en apariencia contradictorios: el primerode ellos (E) expresa la tendencia eudaimonista del pensamiento deEpicteto; el segundo (T) expresa el núcleo teleológico que atraviesa susreflexiones. El objetivo de este trabajo consistirá en analizar el conflictoentre las conclusiones de cada uno de estos argumentos y ofrecer unaposible solución a tal conflicto a partir de las reflexiones del propioEpicteto.

    The passages in Epictetus’ work that concern the problem of whatattitude we should adopt towards externals can be classified in twogroups: the first of them suggests indifference as the only legitimateattitude; the second one exhorts us not to neglect the bonds that tie usto those with whom we live. These two types of passages are generallyplaced as the conclusions of two arguments which appear to contradicteach other: the first of them (E) expresses the eudaimonistic tendencyin Epictetus’ thought; the second one (T) expresses the teleological basison which his reflexions are based. The goal of the present paper willbe to analyze the conflict between the conclusions of those twoarguments and to offer a possible solution based on Epictetus’ ownthoughts.
