Este artículo analiza dos importantes proyectos fotográfi cos creados por mujeres durante el período de entreguerras. Proyectos centrados principalmente en la autorrepresentación, el fotoperiodismo y el reportaje social. Del mismo modo, se establecen los primeros debates teóricos sobre la fotografía, que irán perfi lando lo que se ha llamado el �estilo documental�, y se publican las primeras teorías estéticas e historias generales del medio. El presente artículo pone en relación los trabajos de dos de las más importantes fotógrafas del siglo XX, Lucia Moholy y Berenice Abbo.. , relevantes por su objeto de representación (la arquitectura), sus aproximaciones a la defi nición del �estilo documental� y su vinculación a dos grandes contextos institucionales fundamentales en el desarrollo del arte moderno: la Bauhaus y el New Deal de Roosevelt.

This paper analyzes two important photographic projects created by women during the interwar period.
Those proyect were focused on self-representation, photojournalism and social documentation. During these years, appear the fi rst theoretical debates about photography that will defi ne what have been called �documentary style�, and the fi rst general aesthetic theories and histories of the medium were published. This article puts in relation the works of two of the most important photographers of the twentieth century, Lucia Moholy and Berenice Abbo.. . We will study the object of these corpus (architecture), their approaches to the defi nition of �documentary style� and its connections with two institutional contexts of modern art: Bauhaus and the Roosevelt´s New Deal.
