  • Resumen
    • The dunar system of the Alcudia Bay (Mallorca, Spain), organized into simple parabolic to compound complexes parabolic dunes from a predominant southward wind direction, can be divided in two areas of different parabolic dunes arrangements: 1) the Albufera area in which individual parabolic dunes form a narrow and linear barrier from the marshy area and 2) Sa Marineta area in which parabolic dunes form complex morphologies and wider outcrops. The overall geological structure of the area can be related to a rollover, with the master fault located at the boundary between the Tramuntana range and the Alcudia basin. We relate the different dunes arrangement with the different rate of subsidence among the two areas: in S'Albufera, parabolic dunes can't propagate landwards because a swampy area exists due to major subsidence related with the rollover development, whereas in sa Marineta, because of the minor subsidence, parabolic dunes prograde SSW landwards
