The Río de la Miel fault shows a complex movement history. Three main displacement stages have been distinguished from the microtectonic analysis. The first stage was a dextral strike-slip rnovement whose o was almost horizontal with a NNW-SSE direction. The second stage was a normal movement with o situated in the vertical. Finally in the third stage o had a low dipping angle and a NNE-SSW direction. The vertical displacement of the fault reach several hundreds of metres, probably more than 500 m. This fault has been active at least during the lower Pliocene.
