Privilegiando el rol del educador en el contexto de la sociedad de la información

    En la sociedad del conocimiento o informacional, las instituciones educativas ya no ocupan el lugar casi exclusivo que ostentaban para lograr la información y el conocimiento, puesto que con la ayuda de las tecnologías de información (TIC) que el progreso social crea, se accede de forma privilegiada a la información; diariamente se genera un aluvión de informaciones de las más diversas índoles que no tienen público restringido.

    El principal objetivo de las instituciones educativas en los momentos actuales es enseñarle a los alumnos habilidades para desenvolverse inteligentemente en la sociedad de la información:

    1. Que sepa enfrentarse a la información: buscar, seleccionar, elaborar y difundir información necesaria y útil.

    2. Que se cualifique laboralmente para el uso de las TIC.

    3. Tome conciencia de las implicaciones económicas, ideológicas, políticas y culturales de la tecnología en nuestra sociedad.

    Este último punto es de principal importancia cuando asistimos desde la óptica de los países emergentes, a un nuevo orden económico-social pleno de oportunidades pero también de desigualdades. La nueva plataforma tecnológica, con desniveles asociados a lo económico y también a lo educativo, está presente e impregna a nuestras sociedades desde distintos ángulos. En los últimos diez años en que se ha acelerado la globalización comercial, más de la mitad de los países del mundo, están en peor situación; voceros de la ONU han aceptado que los programas de crecimiento han fracasado para la cuarta parte de la población mundial.

    El presente trabajo sienta las bases para la reflexión de la función social de las instituciones educativas en la sociedad informacional; partiendo en que la responsabilidad social de las universidades es ir elaborando alternativas pedagógicas innovadoras que respondan a las exigencias sociales de una sociedad democrática en un contexto dominado por las tecnologías de la información. Es en este aspecto donde la figura del Educador se reivindica y se magnifica en su rol como formador de actitudes éticas, capitalizando la función social de la Universidad generándole mayor reputación como organización.

    In the society of the knowledge or informacional, the educational institutions no longer occupy the almost exclusive place that they showed to achieve the information and the knowledge, since with the help of the technologies of information (TIC) that the social progress offers, it consents from a privileged way to the information; daily an alluvium of informations of the most diverse natures is generated that don�t have restricted public.

    The main objective of the educational institutions in the current moments is to teach to the students abilities to be unwrapped smartly in the society of the information:

    1. To know how to face the information: to look for, to select, to elaborate and to diffuse necessary and useful information.

    2. To be qualified laborly for the use of the TIC.

    3. To take conscience of the economic, ideological, political and cultural implications of the technology in our society.

    This last point is of main importance when we attend from the optics of the emergent countries, to a new socio-economic order full of opportunities but also of inequalities. The new technological platform, with differences associated to the economic thing and also to the educational thing, it is present and it impregnates to our societies from different angles. In the last ten years in which the commercial globalization has accelerated, more than half of the countries of the world, are in worse situation; spokesmen of the UN have accepted that the programs of growth have failed for the world population�s fourth part.

    The present work sits down the bases for the reflection of the social function of the educational institutions in the informacional society; leaving in that the social responsibility of the universities is to go elaborating alternative pedagogic innovators that they respond to the social demands of a democratic society in a context dominated by the technologies of the information. It is in this aspect where the Educator�s figure is claimed and it is magnified in its list like formador of ethical attitudes, capitalizing the social function of the University generating it, bigger reputation like organization.
