El debate recurrente sobre la investigación cuantitativa y la cualitativa

    Después de plantear la complejidad de los procesos reales, de señalar lo imprescindible de trabajar con modelos simplificados en investigación y de poner de presente que también en los estilos de trabajo histórico-hermenéuticos en ciencias humanas existe la dimensión cuantitativa, este artículo pasa en su segunda parte a mostrar la continuidad existente entre lo cuantitativo y lo cualitativo. Finaliza dando algunos ejemplos de los aportes que lo cuantitativo le hace a las políticas públicas y haciendo ciertas recomendaciones a los investigadores sobre la necesidad de conocer algunos métodos cuantitativos recientes y cierta bibliografía sobre el tema.

    The first part of this article covers several topics: the complexity of real processes is presented; how indispensable it is to work with simplified models in research is pointed out; and also that in the styles of historical-hermeneutical work in human sciences exists the quantitative dimension.

    In the second part the article presents the existing continuity between quantitative and qualitative. It finishes by giving some examples of the contributions that the quantitative gives to the public policies and by giving some recommendations to researchers on the necessity to know some recent developments in quantitative methods and certain bibliography on the subject.
