    El presente ensayo intenta reconstruir las líneas de fuerza y nudos conceptuales de lo que aquí denominamos el proyecto estético de la Unidad Popular. Se trata de sistematizar los elementos y figuras conceptuales que articulan el emblemático relato del Hombre Nuevo, identificando las particularidades de este régimen enunciativo desarrollado por un grupo de intelectuales de la escena local de los 60-70 que trabajan la vinculación entre "cultura" y "socialismo", como dos ejes estructurales en torno a los cuales se proyecta un proceso simbólico que aspira a posicionarlo "popular" como nueva figura hegemónica. La hipótesis es la siguiente: la voluntad modernizadora de este régimen enunciativo nos lleva a considerar cómo a través del desarrollo de una política representacional de lo "popular" se dinamiza la reflexión en torno a lo político como relación entre identidades (relaciones de oposición, subordinación, hegemonía, etc.), tornándose visible la potencia de este régimen enunciativo como dispositivo de subjetivación. Esta reflexión del problema político como problema eminentemente representacional permite comprender -aun en clave ideológica, como producción de conciencia social-, la radical importancia dada a la cultura como horizonte de integración y formulación de una nueva unidad social.

    The present essay tries to reconstruct the force lines and conceptual knots of what we here denominate the aesthetic project of the Unidad Popular.The purpose is to systematize the elements and conceptual figures that join the emblematic narrative of the New Man, identifying the particularities of this enunciative system developed by a group of intellectuals of the '60s-'70s local scene that studied the relation between "culture" and "socialism" as two structural lines in which a symbolic process that places the "popular" as the new hegemonic form is thrown forth. The hypothesis is the following: the modernizing will of this enunciative system makes us consider how, through the development of "representational" or "popular" politics, the reflections on the political as a relation between identities (relations of opposition, subordination, hegemony) are reinforced, whilst making visible the subjectivizing power of this system.

    This consideration of the political problem as a conspicuously representational problem allows the understanding -still under the ideological code, as social conscience- of the essential importance given to culture being the horizon of integration and formulation of a new social unity.
