  • Resumen
    • This article examines the genesis and configuration of the textbook and the development of manualistics in contemporary Spain, from the beginning of the XIXth century to the present day. The analysis it offers presents the manual as a space of memory of the school culture, and as a synthesiser of school culture, insofar as this mediation has been constituted historically as a support of the curriculum, of social imagery and of the methods invented by the school institution and its protagonists. Furthermore the article studies the codification of the different textual genres produced by the first and second generations of textbooks, suggesting criteria of the construction of a taxonomy of the manuals and guidelinesforits use in historical research
