  This essay studies the impact of China’s economic development on the Brazilian economy, starting from the compromise on income distribution of the Lula presidency aimed at fiscal orthodoxy while attempting to revamp the growth of the domestic market. The sectoral consistency of Brazil’s development is linked to the distributive conflict. We conclude that a neodevelopmentalist strategy is required in order to attain the objective of a coherent productive structure. In this context, Brazil’s capacity to face up to the challenge of China’s industrial exports to its domestic market depends upon the formulation of a new compromise on income distribution. Indeed, a more progressive fiscal stance would be needed in order to implement the neostructuralist policy in a framework of regional integration.

  Cet article étudie l'impact du développement économique de la Chine sur l'économie brésilienne en partant du compromis sur la distribution des revenus qu'a établi la présidence Lula sur la base d'une orthodoxie fiscale pour chercher à restimuler la croissance du marché domestique. La consistance sectorielle du développement brésilien est mise en rapport avec le conflit distributif. On en conclut qu'une stratégie néo-développementaliste doit permettre d'atteindre l'objectif d'une structure productive cohérente. Dans ce contexte, la capacité du Brésil à relever le défi que représentent les exportations industrielles chinoises pour son marché domestique dépend de la formulation d'un nouveau compromis distributif. Plus particulièrement, un système fiscal plus progressif apparaît comme la condition d'une politique néostructuraliste dans le cadre de l'intégration régionale.
