    La arqueología aborigen es la encargada del estudio de los primeros grupos humanos que habitaron el archipiélago cubano. Surgida a mediados del siglo XIX, tras un largo proceso de evolución, ha llegado hasta nuestros días con importantes aportes científicos. Su desarrollo en la provincia de Camagüey se ha caracterizado por constituir un proceso con marcados cambios progresivos. La descripción del estado actual de esta disciplina científica partiendo de sus antecedentes, sus resultados más importantes en años recientes y las perspectivas teniendo en cuenta las potencialidades existentes en el área descrita, constituyen los objetivos de este trabajo.

    Native archaeology is the one in charge of the study of the first human groups that inhabited the Cuban archipelago. Founded in the middle of the 19th Century, after a long process of evolution, it has arrived to the present time with important scientific contributions. Its development in the province of Camagüey has been characterized to constitute a process with noticeable progressive changes. The description of the current situation of this scientific discipline, starting from their antecedents, their more important results in recent years and the perspective taking into account the existing potentialities in the described area, constitute the aims of this work.
