Hospitality students and their stereotypes: a pilot study

    • In a pilot study identifying the stereotypes of students enrolled in US hospitality pogramms, the authors examined two simple questions: Who or what groups of people are you prejudiced against and why; and who or what groups or people are you biased towards and why? The ifndings uncovered positive and negative beliefs regarding the characteristics, attributes, and behaviors of members of certain groups of people. Suggestions for educators to help reduce the use of stereotypes are included.
