En este artículo el autor hace una revisión crítica del contenido del "interés social" como elemento guía del Derecho de Sociedades. Para ello, se explica muy brevemente las teorías monistas y pluralistas a lo largo de su historia, para finalizar con la particular visión del autor sobre el objeto de estudio. Se trata de un trabajo teórico de la materia, no circunscrito a un particular ordenamiento jurídico, que busca reflexionar sobre cuál debería ser el alcance de este importante concepto conforme a las nuevas realidades económicas y jurídicas de la Empresa en el siglo XXI.

In this paper the author makes a critical review of the "interest of the company" as a guide element in corporate law. For this purpose, it explains briefly the shareholder and stakeholder theories through history, concluding with the particular view of the author about the subject. This is a non-local theoretical work that aims think over about what should be the scope of this concept according to the new economic and legal realities of the company in the twenty-first century
