    En este trabajo se demuestra como el uso no-sexista del lenguaje en la Constitución bolivariana restituye a las venezolanas sus derechos y su identidad como ciudadanas. Refutamos el uso de genéricos como hombre, ciudadano, todos, etc., pues, al querer abarcar los dos sexos, invisibilizan y/o hasta excluyen a las mujeres. La introducción de vocablos femeninos, al lado de los masculinos en todo el texto constitucional, es el fruto de recomendaciones de intelectuales feministas hispanohablantes recogidas por la UNESCO y el Consejo de Europa. Las sugerencias del Instituto de la Mujer de España y del Libro de Estilo de la Administración española son el resultado de consultas con varias instancias culturales y científicas españolas, entre ellas el Instituto de Filología de la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.

    This paper shows how the use of non-sexist language in the Bolivarian Constitution restores to Venezuelan women their rights and identity as citizens. We reject the use of generic terms such as hombre (�man�), ciudadano, todos, (�citizens�, �all�, gramatically masculine in Spanish) etc., which are intended to cover both sexes but in fact render invisible or exclude women. The introduction of feminine terms beside the masculine ones throughout the text of the constitution is the result of the recommendations of Spanish-speaking feminist intellectuals as recorded by UNESCO and the Council of Europe. The suggestions of the Spanish Instituto de la Mujer (Institute for Woman) and the �Book of Style� of the Spanish administration are based on consultations with several cultural and scientific bodies, including the Institute of Philology of the University Autonomous of Madrid.
