Una figurilla inédita del Ashmolean Museum de Oxford plantea el problema de su identidad (¿mono o criatura mixta?) y de su uso en la antigua Beocia. La semejanza del objeto con otras de la época clásica confirma su dimensión divertida pero a la vez muy ambigua porque la figura podría tener una ofrenda en sus manos. ¿Da cuenta la imagen de una función del mono en el universo religioso?

An unpublished figurine of the Ashmolean Museum of Oxford raises the problem of his identity (monkey or mixed creature?) and of his use in the ancient Boeotia. The similarity of the object with others of the classic age confirms his enterteining dimension but simultaneously very ambiguous because the figure might have an offering in his hands. There realizes the image of a function of the monkey in the religious universe?
