    El SAIH, Sistema Automático de Información Hidrológica, responde fundamentalmente a la necesidad de mejorar la gestión de recursos hidráulicos de nuestro país. Con el SAIH se da, a los organismos correspondientes, una potente herramienta de trabajo que va a ayudar definitivamente en la gestión hidráulica de las Cuencas Hidrográficas Españolas. El SAIH, a otro nivel, es un reto técnico importante. Por la complejidad de los sistemas y las tecnologias empleadas ha sido necesario realizar un esfuerzo importante por todos los organismos y empresas que están participando en todas las fases de implantación, explotación y mantenimiento del SAIH.

    The SAIH system of automatic hydraulic information was born of a need to better the handling of our resources in this material. The paper holds that the system in question gives to the parties interested in this sector a dynamic working instrument that should lend an all but definitive boost to the task of the management of Spain's hydraulic possibilities. The SAIH is also seen as having been a technological challenge of the first water. The complexity of the systems and technologies used in it have called for a major effort on the part of all those bodies and companies that have had a hand in its setting up, running and up-keep.
