Resumen de Trumping preemption y causación por obturación

  Las teorías contrafácticas de la causación han tenido que afrontar muchas dificultades. Una de ellas es la de la sobredeterminación causal en cualquiera de sus cuatro tipos diferentes: simétrica, prelación temprana (early preemption), prelación tardía (late preemption) y prelación por triunfos (trumping preemption). Este trabajo se concentra en el problema de la prelación por triunfos y muestra que no es posible encontrar este tipo de sobredeterminación causal en nuestro mundo natural. Cada ejemplo sugerido para mostrar la existencia de este tipo de causación o bien involucra acciones humanas o bien requiere renunciar a algunas de las leyes que parecen cumplirse en nuestro mundo. En cambio, tales ejemplos pueden ser comprendidos mucho mejor como un nuevo tipo de causación que podemos llamar «causación por obturación» dejando la pretendida prelación por triunfos fuera de este mundo (natural)

  Counterfactual causation theories have been faced many difficulties. One of them is the obstacle of causal overdetermination in its four different types: symetrical overdetermination, early preemption, late preemption and trumping preemption.

  This paper deal with the problem of trumping preemption and shows that such a causal overdetermination type is not possible to be found in our natural world. Every example rised to justify the existence of this kind of preemption either envolve human actions or take for granted a world with different laws than seems to be valid in the actual world. Additionally the alleged type could be much better understood as a new type of causation we can call it «block in causation» that give a good account of the examples of nature leaving aside the really trumping cases out of this (natural) world.
