  El interés general es un concepto ético y normativo invocado habitualmente para justificar las decisiones de los planes; sin embargo, determinadas corrientes de la filosofía política niegan la existencia de tal concepto y aquellas que lo consideran difieren en su sentido y significado. El objeto del artículo es profundizar en las distintas consideraciones que sobre el interés general efectúan estas corrientes de pensamiento, concluyendo que el interés general es un concepto necesario y operativo para la planificación territorial

  The public interest is an ethical and normative concept generally used to justify the decisions of the plans; nevertheless, determined currents of the political philosophy deny the existence of such concept, and those who consider it differ in its sense and meaning. The aim of the article is to deepen into the different considerations that these currents of thought carry out on the public interest, reaching the conclusion that the public interest is a necessary and operative concept for spatial planning
