    El .ih.d en el Islam se manifiesta inicialmente como un espiritu militarista que articula una defensa de la religion, o lo que es lo mismo del estado musulman, por medio de las armas. Cuando en el s. I de la Hegira se hace imposible continuar la extension del estado islamico, el rib.. se articula como sustituto del .ih.d. Supone la interiorizacion de esa misma espiritualidad, entendida ahora no como un precepto colectivo y oficial, sino individual y de lucha interior. Se repasan los datos que las fuentes arabes aportan respecto al rib.. y su realizacion en el edificio conocido como r.bi.a; se explica la funcion de estos edificios, historiografia, marco juridico, la vida religiosa y la economia relacionada con las rabitas. Igualmente se enumeran las huellas toponimicas y los vestigios materiales de las rabitas en el este de la peninsula Iberica, especialmente las encontradas en Guardamar del Segura.

    At the beginning .ih.d was in Islam a militaristic spirit that articulates a defence of the religion, or what is the same, of the Muslim State, by means of arms. When in the first century of the Hegira it becomes impossible to continue the expansion of the Islamic State, the Rib.. was articulated as a substitute for .ih.d. It involved the internalization of the same spirituality, now understood not as a collective and official precept, but as individual command and internal fight. We revise the data from Arab sources about the Rib..

    and its performance in the building known as r.bi.a. The function of these buildings, historiography, juridical frame, religious life and the economy related to the r.bi.a-s are explained. Toponymic traces and material vestiges of the rabi.a-s at the eastern coast of the Iberian Peninsula, especially those found in Guardamar del Segura are explained as well.
