Resumen de Actuación arqueológica de urgencia en el solar de la C/ San Francisco Nº19 y C/ Guzmán Nº 1 de Medina Sidonia (Cádiz)

  Las actuaciones arqueológicas descritas en el presente informe, se enmarcan dentro de la dinámica seguida desde hace una década en la ciudad de Medina Sidonia, por la cual todo el parcelario urbano inscrito en la delimitación del Conjunto Histórico- Artístico está sujeto a cautela arqueológica. La potencialidad del terreno se verifica con anterioridad al inicio de las obras urbanísticas previstas en el solar en cuestión. En el caso que nos ocupa, vuelve a confirmarse la riqueza arqueológica del subsuelo de la Ciudad, sobre todo del Barrio de Santiago, donde se vienen localizando los vestigios más significativos hasta la fecha, correspondientes a la urbe romana que se enclavó en este cerro, Asido Caesarina.

  The archaeological activities described in the actual statement are fitted within the framework of the dynamic followed during the last decade in the village of Medina Sidonia, due to that the whole village plots from inside the artistic historical ens- emble are subjected to archaeological cautiousness. The potentiality of the ground is verified before beginning the urban works planned in the building site at issue.

  In the case that concern us, it confirms again the archaeological richness of the village subsoil, mainly in the district of Santiago, where had been located the most significant vestiges to date, corresponding to the Roman city set on this hill, Asido Caesarina.
