Resumen de El castillo de Medina Sidonia (Cádiz): metodología, investigación e interpretación histórica

  Desde hace aproximadamente veinte años, Medina Sidonia viene apostando por poner en valor su rico patrimonio histórico y, especialmente, el arqueológico. En este sentido, el inicio de la investigación en el castillo de la ciudad, en la cumbre del cerro del mismo nombre, ha supuesto, por un lado, la profundización en el conocimiento del pasado de este lugar, contando ya con datos para establecer su evolución desde la Prehistoria Reciente hasta la actualidad, prácticamente sin solución de continuidad; y, por otro, con la puesta en valor de lo hasta ahora excavado, se ofrece a la sociedad un nuevo espacio cultural, emblemático por su historia particular y por su emplazamiento privilegiado.

  Los trabajos de análisis de la documentación histórica relacionada con la fortaleza asidonense, así como las actuaciones arqueológicas desarrolladas, están revelando que nos hallamos en un espacio fundamental para conocer el pasado de esta población, al concentrarse, tanto en estratificación horizontal como vertical dicha evolución histórica. De ello trataremos en este artículo, dando a conocer aspectos inéditos y que modifican radicalmente todo lo que hasta ahora se había escrito al respecto.

  For approximately twenty years, Medina Sidonia bet for putting in value his rich historical and, patrimony specially, the archaeological one. In this respect, the beginning of the investigation in the castle of the city, in the summit of the hill of the same name, he has supposed, on the one hand, the deepening in the knowledge of the past of this place, possessing already information to establish his evolution from the Recent Prehistory up to the current importance, practically without solution of continuity; and, for other one, with the putting in value of till now excavated, one offers to the society a new cultural, emblematic space for his particular history and for his privileged emplacement.

  The works of analysis of the historical documentation related to the fortress asidonense, as well as the archaeological actions developed till now, are revealing that we are situated in a fundamental space to know the past of this population, on having centered, so much in horizontal stratification as vertical the above mentioned historical evolution. Of it we will treat in this article, announcing aspects till now unpublished and that they modify radically everything what till now one had written in the matter.
