El presente articulo se centra en el estudio de las relaciones analogicas establecidas entre la ciudad y el cosmos o el mundo en diversos textos del Siglo de Oro, mediante la comparacion del plano urbano con un mapamundi. Se destaca la importancia de este motivo en el teatro de la epoca haciendo hincapie en la ruptura de la unidad de espacio por Lope de Vega. Asi, el escenario de una actuacion dramatica puede contener en si el mundo entero. Otras practicas esteticas, como las propias de Soledades de Gongora, el estilo conceptista, algunos objetos decorativos, los tapices, el mapa o la pintura son otros de los mecanismos empleados para representar un mundo abreviado. Mapas y pintura son procedimientos paradigmaticos en cuanto a la reproducción reducida del espacio y, por tanto, se convierten en las metaforas mas empleadas para referirse al concepto de la ciudad como microcosmos.

The present article is centred on the study of the analogical relations established between the city and the cosmos or the world in diverse texts of the Spanish Golden Age, by means of the comparison between the urban plan and the world map. The importance of this motive in the theatre of the time is brought to light remarking Lope�s braking of the unity of space law. Therefore, the scenery of a dramatic performance may contain in itself the hole world. Other aesthetic practices, such as the ones in Gongora�s Soledades, the conceptist style, some decorative objects, tapestries, the map or painting can also serve as mechanisms to represent an abridged world. Maps and painting are paradigmatic procedures regarding the reduced reproduction of space and, therefore, become the most used metaphors to refer to the concept of the city as a microcosm.
