      Abstract:

This article proposes to draw attention to a Mexican woman whodue to her nonconformance with the gender restrictions of the times, her love of literature, her vocation as a teacher, and her pedagogical and social concernsleft profound marks in her passage through life. Dolores Correa formed part of a small group of women of multiples facetsoutstanding professionals, many dedicated to teaching careers who lived in the second half of the 19th century; some of them lived to witness the transformations of the following century. By analyzing the life and work of Dolores Correa as a writer from Tabasco, we hope to address the interests, concerns, and problems of that generation of Mexican women at the vanguarda generation of which Dolores Correa was an outstanding representative.
