The generalized Marshall and Olkin distribution

  • In this work an extension of the classical distribution due to Marshall and Olkin is presented. The generalized Marshall-Olkin distribution (GMOD) extends the no-aging property to the multivariate case. The GMOD with N marginals is related to N+1 independent random variables whose corresponding failure rates are proportional to a given rate, r(x). Moreover, it turns out to be apropriate to model the survival time of a system under competing risks with N+1 causes of failure when the time to failure is independent of the time to failure.
