In a 50% (V/V) ethanol -water medium at I = O.lM NaC104, Cu(II) and 2- ( 4' , 5 ' -diphenyl-2 ' -imidazolylazo) -4-ch lorophenol formthe complexes CuHR'^dogBm = 8.96 ± 0.16) and CUH3R2 (log6i32 = 14.79 ± 0.10). The latter conforms to Beer's law between 0.10 and 3.0-|Ppm Cu at pH 3.5 with molat absorptivity of 1.93x10^ l.mol"! cm at 610 nm. And point sharpness, titration errors and pH rang'^s are theoretically established for the use of that reagent as metal lochroraic indicator for copper, results are checked experimentally.
