The illustrated conception of progress has been criticized for a long time by the anthropologists and the rest of the social sciences. This article returns on this critique, recapturing, in a first moment, the deconstruction of "progress" through the comparation with hunter-gatherers societies studied by the anthropologists and raising, in a second moment, a critique beyond the social evolutionist approximations through the interpretations of different poststructuralists authors about "history".
