Estrategias metacognitivas usadas en la lectura de un texto de química

    La investigación tuvo como objetivo analizar las estrategias metacognitivas de un grupo de estudiantes en la Educación Básica, en la lectura de un texto de química. La metodología empleada fue de tipo descriptiva y de campo, recolectándose la información a través de un cuestionario de 13 items sometido a valoración y aprobación por un grupo de expertos en las áreas de lectura, evaluación y enseñanza de la química.

    La muestra quedó constituida por 27 estudiantes del noveno grado de una institución pública del centro de la ciudad de Mérida, Venezuela. No se encontró lectura consciente y reflexiva, es decir, no aplicaron las estrategias metacognitivas que les hubiera permitido llegar a la comprensión del texto que es fundamental para un aprendizaje significativo.

    This research aimed at analyzing the metacognitive strategies of a group of junior-high school students when reading a chemistry text. The methodology used was of the type of descriptive and of the field. The information was gathered through a 13-item questionnaire subject to valuation and approval by a group of specialists in reading, evaluation, and chemistry teaching. The sample was composed by 27 ninth-grade students in a public institution in Mérida downtown, Venezuela. It is concluded that no conscious or reflective reading is shown, i.e. metacognitive reading strategies were not applied by the students, and this could have allowed them to get a whole comprehension of the text, which is vital for a significant learning.
