El artículo se basa en datos obtenidos del Informe Europeans, Science & Technology Special EUROBAROMETER 224. En cada uno de los países de la Unión Europea se recogieron los mismos datos. Los que se ofrecen en este artículo corresponden al valor medio obtenido en la muestra con que se trabajó: 24895 ciudadanos europeos, entre los que se encontraban 1036 españoles. El objetivo era evaluar sus actitudes generales hacia la Ciencia y la Tecnología, de modo similar a los informes realizados en los años 2001, 2002 y 1992, aunque parece que se ha ido progresando desde entonces en cuanto al conocimiento básico.
Los resultados evidencian que hay un interés latente en los europeos por la Ciencia y la Tecnología, al demandar más información. Parte de ellos tiene una percepción escéptica de la Ciencia y la Tecnología, pero también hay una percepción optimista de lo que ambas realmente pueden hacer para la humanidad en términos de investigación médica, de mejora de la calidad de vida, de oportunidades para las generaciones futuras.

The article is based on obtained data of the Europeans, Science & Technology Special EUROBAROMETER 224 survey. In each one of the countries of the European Union the same data were picked up. Those that offer in this article correspond to the value half obtained in the sample with which one worked: 24895 European citizens, among those that 1036 Spaniards were. The objective was to evaluate its general attitudes toward the Science and the Technology, in a similar way to the reports carried out in the years 2001, 2002 and 1992, although it seems that it has left progressing from then on as for the basic knowledge.
The results evidence that there is a latent interest in the Europeans for the Science and the Technology, when demanding more information. Some of them have a sceptical perception of the science and the technology, but there is also an optimistic perception of what both can really make for the humanity in terms of medical investigation, of improvement of the quality of life, of opportunities for the future generations�
