    A partir de entrevistas y de grupos de revisión, se aborda la percepción que los habitantes del medio rural tienen de los incendios forestales ocurridos entre 1983 y 2005 en los 42 municipios con más incendios de Castilla y León, en cuyo territorio se ha quemado más de la mitad de superficie regional incendiada.

    Se concluye que, mientras los habitantes rurales perciben los incendios forestales como una herramienta cultural , los políticos, los conservacionistas y, en general, el mundo urbano proponen políticas no asumidas por la población local, lo que contribuye a un permanente conflicto de intereses.

    The perception of forest fire by the rural population is analysed by means of interviews and groups of discussion. The study is based on what happened between 1983 and 2005 in the 42 municipalities wich have suffered the most of forest fire in Castile and Leon, and where it has burned more than half of the total regional burnt surface. We conclude that, while the rural inabitants perceive fires like a cultural tool, the politicians, environmentalists and, in general, the urban world proposes policies not assumed by the local population, contributing to a permanent conflict of interest.
