Este artículo destaca el papel de Mesonero Romanos en la erección del Panteón de Hombres Ilustres. Una institución netamente decimonónica, que tuvo su mayor desarrollo en la segunda mitad del siglo. Al mismo tiempo, se establecen las relaciones del proyecto de Mesonero con la línea dieciochesca de reformas urbanísticas que querían hacer de Madrid una ciudad de representación de la naciente nación española.

This article emphasizes the role of Mesonero Romanos in the establishment of the Pantheon of Illustrious Men. A net XIX century institution that had its greater development in the second half of the century. At the same time, the relations of the project of Mesonero with the XVIII century line of city-planning changes decided down that they wanted to make of Madrid a city of representation of the rise of Spanish nation.
